This is suhrud Mandal’s first school . It was started on August 1, 1973 There are 75 students . School
is well equipped with all facilities. Students take part in various cultural and sports activities
besides formal education. It’ s unique feature is that , every year the school used to conduct a lip
reading and general knowledge competition’ for children with hearing impairment of all special schools
in Pune with the assistance from Lions’ club ,Pune city .This event was enjoyed by the children &
the winners celebrate & cherish the memory. School is going to change the pattern of the competition
to make it more interesting, from next year.

As a social responsibility the teachers and students participate in “ clean India Drive “ ( Swachchata abhiyan ). They clean the surrounding area and appeal people to keep it clean.

It also has a sub-center at National Defense Academy at Khadakwasla. This sub-center was started at the request of the armed Forces and caters to children who are residing there. There are 20 mentally challenged children receiving education and rehabilitation program for last — years.
