After learning about the shortage of teachers to teach hearing impaired in Marathi medium, we
started teachers training college. The college, P S Mulgaonkar College, offers B.Ed (Special
Education) program, approved by Rehabilitation Council of India, for last 12 years and more than
300 special teachers have successfully completed the said program and are teaching in various
schools.The College is affiliated to Pune University. There was need of specially trained
teachers to teach children with hearing impairment . Suhrud Mandal started a college for B. Ed.
( H. I. ) on suggestion of Rehabilitation Council of India . This is the first B.Ed. college in
Marathi medium which has recognition of Maharashtra Government and is affiliated to Pune
University. The college has capacity of 25 students.
