Over the years we have been implementing number of projects as also organizing various
seminars, workshops and lectures aligned with our core objectives and programs
Suhrud Mandal also initiated a three-month special teacher training program called “Abhinav Shikshak Prashikshan Padavika”, which was successfully conducted from 1980 to 1995. Eminent doctors, ENT specialists, audiologists, and educators voluntarily contributed their expertise to the program. Recognizing the importance of continuous professional development, Suhrud Mandal organized nearly 50 seminars and workshops for teachers between 1989 and 2002. Teachers from across Maharashtra participated in these sessions, where topics such as causes of deafness, sign language training, simplified learning methods, preparation of teaching aids, and rehabilitation of hearing-impaired children were discussed.
Suhrud Mandal trained six teachers from remote villages to educate children between the ages of two and five years. The scheme was implemented in Ratnagiri, Vadgaon, Javar, Ichalkaranji, Kasheli, and Sangamner, benefiting around 25 children. This innovative and visionary outreach initiative of reaching children in inaccessible rural areas was started in 1984 by Late Vatsalatai Bhate, an eminent educationist.
As a part of “Ruby Jubilee” celebration of Suhrud Mandal in the year 2013, our PSMBED (Pandurang Shamrao Mulgaonkar, B.Ed college)
arranged a seminar of special teachers from all corners of Maharashtra. The seminar was well attended by 250 teachers out of which 70 teachers were past-students of the college.
Suhrud Mandal has started ‘e-learning’ in all its schools with the help of Rotary club Kothrud & Rotary club Sports City, in December 2011. It is found that for science, geography, mathematics, history & environmental studies this method is very helpful. Each school is provided with computers, projectors with screen & the educational software by Komkin and MKCL (Maharashtra). It is found that Digital education helps the students to understand the subjects quite effectively. Also they enjoy & participate enthusiastically in the e-learning process. The teachers are preparing their own teaching material in the form of multimedia presentation. This project helped us during COVID lockdown phase and will continue to be relevant for distance learning initiative in future.
Suhrud mandal organized a State level Seminar for the special teachers from all the districts of Maharashtra on 24 -25 September 2011. Rehabilitation Council of India & Bruhan Maharashtra College of Commerce were the co-sponsors. The Seminar was inaugurated by eminent writer & social worker Dr. Anil Avachat. Around 370 teachers from all corners of the state participated in the seminar. Eminent speakers & teachers delivered speeches. Teachers presented their experiences and experiments in teaching. Suhrud published 4 books in Marathi language on this occasion as there were very few books on these topics in this local language:

Specials schools have been using regular textbooks developed by Balbharati in Maharashtra. The vocabulary of the hearing-impaired students and special children with learning disability students is limited. Naturally there have been challenges and hurdles to adopt and to implement the academic program for these children. They need simplified text books, which are not available in the market. Suhrud Mandal has therefore taken up the work of simplifying the text books with the help of eminent educators and experts in this field. The expert committee was formed to undertake the task of adaptation of the text books for std I, II, III, IV, VI and VII published by Balbharati. This exercise was done adhering the guidelines set by Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and Ali Yaver Jung National Institute of Hearing Handicapped (AYJNIHH). In the adapted version of text books, the content matter is re-written in simpler words, giving meanings of new words also in simpler words. Additional pictures and visual inputs are provided to make comprehension easier. Suhrud Mandal is confident that all the special schools in Maharashtra state will benefit from these newly developed parallel Text books.
Recently in 2026, Suhrud Mandal also took a lead and published supplementary books for hearing impaired students of Pre-primary levels based on National Education Policy, 2020 (NEP) and the new Balbharati textbooks released based on NEP.
In April 2013, Starkey Foundation, USA donated 1500 hearing aids to all students in Pune District. This project was coordinated by Suhrud Mandal.
A three-day hearing aid distribution camp was organized with the support of Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities. Nearly 200 students from rural areas benefited from this initiative.
